Recap
Picking up after Strahd misted into the walls of his casket room, the party found a new 30-foot gargoyle-carved chamber with two four-armed iron statues, a suspended hourglass, and a golden chest marked “lots and lots of loot” @ 00:19:11–00:22:58. Ozan spotted a riddle on the hourglass and disarmed a trap on the chest, but the party dithered over the statues’ colored gems while the hourglass sand began falling and all four doors locked @ 00:24:30–00:36:09. Rich blew open the one unlocked-looking door with a scroll of Knock just as the sand ran out and two iron golems animated @ 00:42:26–00:44:19.
The fight turned rough: both golems breathed poison gas, afflicting Wu and Alumbra with Constitution damage. Alumbra nearly died fleeing up a dead-end stairwell after a critical fumble left her prone between both golems, saved by a burned Fate Point and a Shadow Clone escape @ 00:50:23–01:35:24. The tide turned when the first golem critically fumbled and tripped itself, letting the party focus it down for nearly 100 damage; the second similarly stumbled and was finished off with Magic Missile @ 01:57:23–02:29:01. With both golems dead, every door unlocked and four colored gems fell from their hands. The party rested overnight, and Ozan brewed an antidote that cured the lingering poison by morning; the session ended with the party close to 7th level and the golden chest’s true contents never recovered @ 02:29:52–02:39:37.
