The priest (ravenloft)

The priest is a man who prays and chants at the far end of a church with overturned, broken benches and a claw-scarred altar.† He stopped his prayers and looked up when Raven asked what had happened to the town.†

The town’s plight

The priest said that for the past 10 years no one can leave the town, commerce has stopped, and those who try to help end up perishing to the beast.† He said that the Baron ruled the land and has now been twisted into that beast.† He told the party that the castle sits atop cliffs near the town and overlooks it, and that the only road out of town leads to the castle.†

The party’s visit

The priest gasped at the sigil on the invite and said the party had been invited by the Baron himself.† He prayed and blessed the water for Raven.† He said the party was welcome to stay in the church, since no inn in town had rooms, and that the rooms upstairs are ruined.†

The rising ghosts

He said their rising happens every night and went back to bed.†
