Also heard as: Deeth, Death Isles
A region permanently shrouded in a deadly, constitution-draining Miasmic Cloud, once home to prestigious necromantic schools, now abandoned. The Tomb of Horrors lies at its center. Appears only in the Pat-DM’d interlude session; see 2023-10-08 and jakedm Unresolved.
History
- Described as once home to prestigious necromantic schools, abandoned after the miasma spread 2023-10-08 @ 00:31:05.
- Confirmed via the dispelled Tomb of Horrors map to hold the Tomb at its center 2023-10-08 @ 02:01:41–02:09:52.
- Prompts Jace Gandolfini and Sarkhan Vol to craft/buy bottles of air and a scroll of Concealed Breath to survive its miasma @ 02:35:45–03:10:40.
- Rugby’s Roaming Gazette describes an “Isle of Death” (a locals’ nickname) east of Sawyen, before the “Monstrous nation of Suenth” — home to a skeletal, skinless flying horror and to monsters and dinosaurs, witnessed by fisherman Than’ Targuhn 2019-07-15. The very next issue describes a miasmic “death cloud” spreading from the shores of Sawyen and Suenth 2020-04-13.
Unresolved
No later session revisits the Isle of Death or the Tomb of Horrors expedition.
The Gazette’s “Isle of Death” (2019-07-15, in-world MAY 8 4885) shares this page’s name, its monster-haunted reputation, and a miasma-adjacent region (the “death cloud” of the very next issue) — but the two are never confirmed on-mic or in print to be the same island, and a huge span of in-world time separates the Gazette’s 4885 setting from the JakeDM campaign. Flagged as a possible echo, not asserted as the same place.
