The party pushes through the pyramid’s “Tests of the Pharaoh”: a twin-door corridor warning of “the doom of power and evil from a heartless man,” a clay golem that splits when cut (destroyed by shoving both copies into a water channel), and a wall-of-fire trap on a water-channel staircase. Rich is swept away alone underwater and meets a sphinx-like creature, Andrew, who offers knowledge for a solved riddle; Rich stalls and leaves without answering. The party finds an illusory stone wall hiding the way on, then is ambushed by five shadow “Nega” doubles of themselves. Beyond them sits The Seated Man, apparent source of the visions that drew the party here — he wakes hostile when Rich tries to steal his staff, and the session ends mid-fight, badly wounded, as Jake has to leave. The party reaches level 9.
