Also heard as: Donovan, Donnie's character, the ship's captain
Donnie’s Arc I character: the party’s ship captain, bonded to the ship’s enslaved air elemental, wanted by the Church of St. Cuthbert. Named “Mori Yoshinari” from 2020-01-28 onward; earlier sessions call him only “Donovan” or “Donnie’s character,” with inconsistent class descriptions (Sword Saint samurai in the first recorded session, a cleric-type with Use Magic Device by the time he becomes captain) — treated here as one continuous character, with the discrepancy flagged below.
History
- As a Sword Saint (samurai), lawful evil, uses iaijutsu strikes and survives near-death via Resolve and fate points 2019-10-15 @ 01:56:31–02:00:47.
- Finds the dead mage’s journal of planar cosmology aboard the looted ship 2020-01-20 @ 00:20:38.
- Touches the ship’s planar crystal directly, triggering an accidental plane shift 2020-01-20 @ 01:02:51.
- Elected the party’s Captain @ 02:40:23, then speaks the command word “Pop Jack,” permanently bonding with the ship’s air elemental 2020-01-20 @ 02:40:23, @ 02:44:25–02:44:38.
- Named “Mori Yoshinari” for the first time by a Church of St. Cuthbert priest, who recognizes him as “the cat folk that seem to have caused issues with the church this year” and has been tracking him across continents; the specific crime is never stated on mic (a previous session’s party-vs-paladin fight is a plausible but unconfirmed link) 2020-01-28 @ 01:07:45–01:09:21. The timestamp previously cited here, @ 00:52:22, is an unrelated scene (Donnie blacksmith-shopping).
- Commissions mithril +3 “Eastern” armor and an enchanted katana in Neo 2020-01-28 @ 01:24:28–01:35:43.
- Reveals the lore on how the Apocalypse Box can be destroyed (three survived monster-waves, then a gold dragon crushing it) 2020-03-16 @ 00:44:54.
- Straps drow bodies to the ship’s bloodletting tables to refuel it after escaping Hell 2020-03-25 @ 00:55:49.
- Pilots the ship’s interplanar jump that accidentally lands the party in the Feywild instead of home 2020-03-25 @ 02:31:40–02:36:13.
- Turned to stone by a basilisk and remains petrified for the entire session 2020-04-06 @ 00:24:06.
- Fights in mithril plate with his katana in the temple battle against the glabrezu demon 2020-04-13 @ 03:08:50.
Unresolved
His class/fluff shifts across sessions — Sword Saint samurai, then a cleric-type with Use Magic Device, then described again as a “samurai/fighter type” — without any in-game explanation; likely imprecise session notes rather than an in-fiction change. It is unclear whether this is the same character Donnie plays in the 2021 sessions as Fish, or a new character rolled after an off-screen gap.
