Recap

The inspectors regroup at the office after capturing a woman during a break-in that turned out to be a ruse of her own making. Given a choice between chasing leads on “the boot” — the new troll crime lord running Turgeth’s drug trade — or a pending aqueducts job, the party chooses the boot. Jerry teleports them to the Council chambers, where Ozone flirts the prisoner into talking: her husband Riggs, Turgeth’s previous crime boss, lost a bargain with a devil and was dragged to hell; she engineered her own capture to find a hidden golden ticket — a one-way pass to confront the devil and reunite with Riggs. She also reveals the drug Maka flooding the city is secretly supplied by the College of Turgeth itself.

Jerry teleports the party to a dockside warehouse tied to the boot. Ozan plies a drunk lookout, Dex, with moonshine and cocaine, but Dex signals an alarm and a firefight erupts; Ozone’s Glitter Dust blinds the guards, who shoot and stab each other by accident. Rich sprints ahead alone, running past Fugly (the boot’s orc enforcer) rather than stopping to fight. Fugly follows him downstairs and nearly drops him with a 36-damage crit — partway through this fight Rich and Nutty, unsure of his rank, start calling him “the captain” — before Nutty catches up and finishes him off, yielding a pair of enchanted Boots of Haste. As the crew’s ship hoists sail, Ozan torches the warehouse, and a hasted, ethereal Rich flies after the departing ship, spotting The Boot himself — unaware Rich is floating invisibly feet away. The session ends mid-chase.

Entities referenced

Unresolved

The captured prisoner’s name was never stated — see Riggs’s Widow. “Captain Elas,” mentioned once by Loren Fenn, could not be confirmed as a real recurring name or a mishearing 00:12:48. The drug is named “Maka” explicitly but “Rama” is used once earlier for what may be the same drug 00:24:19 00:43:47. The ship’s destination, heard as “Rolesk,” is likely a mangled place name 00:59:19. Nutty’s weapon-combo ability was heard as both “Washashaka” and “Walshashah.” Whether “the captain” (01:43:49, 01:55:17) was a second enemy or just Rich and Nutty’s own nickname for Fugly mid-fight is unresolved — see The Guard Captain; Jake’s narration never confirms a second named enemy and still calls him “the orc” at 01:48:40, so this wiki now treats them as the same NPC.

DM notes (spoiler)

  • Jake tells the players (OOC) the guard captain who crit Rich was likely a mid/high-level fighter (around level 10-11), info the characters never learn in-game 02:55:27-02:57:32.
  • Jake plans to “remix” Ozan’s whistle item’s mechanics after the session 03:19:44.
  • Jake admits (OOC) that running this fight with only three active players (Pat absent) made it harder than intended, calling it “a complete failure on my part” despite the party’s success 03:19:03.
